Sno-Kitten

Model 222

BODY SMALL !

The 222 Kitten is reputed to be the rarest of the early classic Tucker products, with only 110 made made from '57 till '62. Don Michalsky has two in Idaho, and reports that at least some of the Kitten production went to Russia. Don had examples from the beginning and end of the production run, with # 157495 from '57 and # 162835 from 1962. The Dagenham Ford Anglia engine barely produced enough power to move the original Anglia, but the gearing down of the chain drive to the rear mounted sprockets (necessary in order to accomodate the clutch and brake packs not needed in the bigger 'Cats) seems to give it plenty of torque. Don sent me some video of the Kitten running against the heavier and more powerful Studebaker M29C Weasel pictured above, and for all the weight and horsepower differences the performance seems pretty much the same.

Lyle Van Wert has a '62 one as well, 162802, ex-Aspen Ski Company in Colorado, and Darryl Killian knows of another for sale, so the survivability seems quite good for such a fragile machine.
